1. Who we are
Vaidkhoj ("we", "us") is an online platform that connects patients with registered doctors for home visits. For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), Vaidkhoj is the Data Fiduciary for the personal data you share in the app.
2. What we collect
- Account details — name, mobile number, email, password (stored only as a one-way encrypted hash).
- Health information you choose to add — age, gender, blood group, allergies, medical history, reasons for the visit, prescriptions.
- Appointment data — doctor, date/time, mode, address for home visits, reviews.
- Location — only when you use location features (nearby doctors, home visit, live trip).
- Doctor verification — medical registration number, council and year (doctors only).
- Security & usage logs — log-ins, devices used, IP address/country, pages opened and actions taken in the app, to keep accounts safe and prevent misuse.
3. Why we use it
- To create your account and let you book home visits.
- To share the necessary details with the doctor you book — your medical profile and address are visible to a doctor only while your request or appointment with them is active; your phone number only after the request reaches them; a doctor's number only after they accept.
- To send appointment, prescription and security notifications.
- To verify doctors before patients can see or book them.
- To detect fraud, abuse and unauthorised access, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data or use your health data for advertising.
4. Consent
By creating an account you give consent for the processing described above. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account (Settings → Delete Account). Withdrawal does not affect processing done before it.
5. Your rights
- Access — Settings → Download my data gives you a copy of your data.
- Correction — edit your profile anytime; email/mobile changes need OTP verification.
- Erasure — Settings → Delete Account (password + OTP).
- Transparency — Settings → Account activity shows your log-ins, devices and which doctors viewed your profile and when.
- Grievance — contact our Grievance Officer (below). You may also approach the Data Protection Board of India.
6. Security & storage
Data is stored on Appwrite Cloud (Frankfurt region) and accessed only through our secured server. Passwords are hashed with scrypt, sessions expire automatically, and you can turn on 2-Step Login. Encrypted daily backups are kept for 14 days. Security logs are kept for up to 1 year. If you delete your account, your profile and appointments are removed; limited security logs may be kept for up to 1 year where required for fraud prevention or law.
7. Terms of use
- Vaidkhoj is a platform; medical advice is given by independent registered doctors who are responsible for the care they give during home visits.
- Not for emergencies. In an emergency call 112 / 108 or go to the nearest hospital.
- You must give true information and keep your password private. One mobile number / email = one account.
- Doctors must hold a valid registration with the National Medical Commission or a State Medical Council; accounts with false details will be blocked.
- Misuse (spam, abuse, fake bookings, attempts to access others' data) leads to suspension.
- Users must be 18+; minors may use the app through a parent/guardian.
